Fiberglass Tube

1. Typical Applications & Industries

Construction & Real Estate

Round tubes are used in construction for structural support, ventilation systems, and channel/tunnel piping. They are also widely used in ladder handrail systems, door and window frames.

Power & Electrical Engineering

Round tubes are also used as insulating structural components in high-voltage electrical equipment, as well as for antennas and line support poles in communication equipment.

Pipeline Engineering & Wastewater Treatment

Round tubes are extensively used in wastewater projects, petroleum projects, and pipeline engineering, replacing metal pipes with their excellent corrosion resistance. Their high strength, aging resistance, and corrosion resistance make them a complete metal replacement.

Wind Power

Round tubes are used for various support and structural components in wind power plants.

Sports Equipment & Leisure Products

Round tubes are widely used in tents, kites, toys, model airplanes, golf bag rods, and related sports equipment.

Round tubes can have a glass fiber content of over 70%, with outstanding unidirectional specific strength and specific stiffness. After 20 years of use, strength retention remains at 95%. Immune to electromagnetic interference and spark-free, they are ideal for flammable and explosive environments.

FAQ

Customer Question

Standard Answer

Q: How much lighter are fiberglass tubes compared to steel tubes? Is installation easier?

Fiberglass round tubes have a density of only 1.9~2.1g/cm³, about 1/4 that of steel. A 6-meter φ50×5mm round tube weighs ~7.5kg in fiberglass vs ~33kg in steel — over 70% labor savings. Installation requires no heavy lifting equipment; one person can carry and handle it.

Q: What span can round tubes support? Will they bend under load?

The stiffness of round tubes depends on outer diameter and wall thickness. For example, a φ60×5mm round tube can support over 300kg at a 1.5-meter simply supported span. We can calculate the optimal wall thickness and diameter via finite element analysis based on your specific load and span requirements.

Q: Will they corrode from groundwater when buried underground?

No. Both inner and outer surfaces are protected by resin-rich layers, with water absorption ≤0.2%. They do not rust or rot in groundwater at all. They perform excellently in acid-alkali soil environments and are already widely used for buried cable protection conduits and chemical underground pipelines.

Q: On-site installation requires cutting and drilling — how is this done?

Standard carbide saw blades can be used for cutting, and carbide drill bits for drilling. Local ventilation and mask wearing are recommended during cutting. Cut ends must be sealed with epoxy resin to prevent water from wicking along the fibers. We also offer pre-cutting and pre-drilling services to reduce on-site fabrication.

Structure & Features

Round tubes feature a hollow cross-section design that significantly reduces weight while maintaining strength. Fiberglass tubes offer fatigue resistance, corrosion resistance, light weight, high strength, smooth and attractive surface, good insulation, easy installation, and long service life. Glass fiber content can reach over 70%, with outstanding unidirectional specific strength and stiffness.

Available Specifications & Sizes

Outer diameter of round tubes ranges from φ2.0mm to φ200mm. Wall thickness is customized based on outer diameter and application requirements, with common thicknesses from 1.0mm to 5.0mm. For example, common tent pole specifications: φ6.0mm × 3.0mm (ID), φ6.9mm × 3.5mm, φ7.9mm × 3.8mm, φ9.5mm × 4.5mm, etc.

4. Key Application Advantages

Outstanding Lightweight Advantage: The hollow structure reduces weight by 30%~50% compared to solid rods while maintaining strength. At only 1/4 the weight of same-size steel pipes, a 6-meter φ50×5mm round tube weighs only ~7.5kg, easily carried and installed by one person.

Exceptional Specific Strength: Glass fiber content can reach over 70%, with outstanding unidirectional specific strength and stiffness. At the same weight, load capacity far exceeds metal tubing, making it ideal for aerial work and lightweight structures.

Internal & External Corrosion Resistance: Both inner and outer surfaces are protected by resin-rich layers, with water absorption ≤0.2%. Whether transporting corrosive fluids or installed underground, no corrosion maintenance is required, with service life over 20 years.

Electrical Insulation & Wave Transparency: Non-conductive and spark-free, suitable for flammable and explosive environments. Also offers high electromagnetic wave transmittance with no magnetic interference, ideal for communication base station radomes and similar applications.

Flexible Installation & Connection: Can be cut, drilled, bonded, or flanged for convenient on-site fabrication. Smooth inner wall provides low cable-pulling resistance, ensuring high construction efficiency when used as cable protection conduit.
