Power and Electrical Industry

Round rods are the most widely used category among glass fiber profiles. In high-voltage electrical equipment, round rods are used as insulating structural components for high-voltage switches, transformers and capacitors. They are also extensively adopted in antennas in communication equipment, wiring support pillars and insulating components of railway conductors. In addition, round rods are applied in scenarios such as core rods of organic composite insulators, support rods for metal-free optical cables and sucker rods for oilfields.

Chemical Anti-Corrosion Engineering

Round rods have excellent resistance to the atmosphere, water, acids, alkalis and salts of general concentrations, as well as various oils and solvents. In onshore and offshore anti-corrosion projects, cooling towers, sewage platform systems and chemical equipment supports, round rods are gradually replacing carbon steel, stainless steel, wood and non-ferrous metals.

Municipal and Transportation Facilities

Round rods are widely used in ladder handrail systems, cable trays, municipal facilities, traffic guardrails and other fields. They are also applied in the retaining walls of buildings such as parks and office buildings, as well as the connections between bricks on the slope protection of roads and rivers.

The characteristics of light weight and good toughness make round rods suitable for kite skeletons, flying saucers, bow backs, electric aircraft and various toys. Q: How much tensile force can round rods withstand? Will they break easily?

Our round rods have tensile strength ≥ 600MPa, equivalent to withstanding over 60kg of force per square millimeter. At the same diameter, strength exceeds ordinary carbon structural steel (Q235 ~370MPa), fully capable for insulating pull rods, load-bearing supports, and similar applications.

Q: How long can they last in acid-fume environments of chemical plants?

The rod matrix uses corrosion-resistant resin (e.g., vinyl ester). After long-term immersion in 10% sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, and other media, strength retention still reaches over 85%. Actual service life in chemical environments can reach 10~15 years, far exceeding ordinary carbon steel (which severely rusts in 2~3 years).

Q: Will they age from sun exposure when used outdoors?

Standard products already include UV stabilizers and anti-aging surface veil. After 1,000 hours of xenon lamp accelerated aging testing, the surface shows no cracking with strength retention ≥ 90%. Normal outdoor service life is 15~20 years.

Q: What diameter tolerance can be achieved?

φ3~10mm tolerance ±0.05mm, φ10~30mm tolerance ±0.10mm, straightness ≤0.5mm per meter. If you have higher precision requirements, we can provide precision grinding services.

Structure & Features

Round rods are manufactured using E-glass fiber yarns, mats, and fabrics as reinforcement, impregnated with solvent-free resin (epoxy / polyester / vinyl ester), and continuously baked and consolidated in specialized dies via the pultrusion process. The product features extremely high mechanical strength in the fiber direction, excellent dielectric properties, and availability in any length.
