A fiberglass curtain baton (also known as a drapery wand or draw rod) is a slim, rigid pole that attaches to the leading edge of a curtain, allowing you to open and close drapes without touching the fabric. Engineered for durability and ease of use, it is the go‑to solution for anyone who wants to protect delicate materials, reach high windows, or operate heavy curtains effortlessly.
The baton is built around three core components:
Rod Body – Manufactured via the pultrusion process, where continuous E‑glass fibers are impregnated with thermosetting resin (polyester or vinyl ester) and cured into a solid, uniform profile. This creates a rod that is exceptionally strong yet lightweight (density ~1.4–1.9 g/cm³), corrosion‑proof, and dimensionally stable across temperature extremes.
Attachment Hardware – A stainless steel snap hook or swivel ring is fixed to one end. This clips onto the curtain’s master carrier (the lead glider on a track or ring system), enabling smooth, angled operation.
Optional Handle / Adapter – Some models feature an ergonomic grip or a loop end for ADA compliance (operable with a hand or wrist). Adapters are also available for compatibility with specific curtain track systems.
The surface is smooth and non‑porous, with color integrated throughout the rod – scratches and wear do not reveal a contrasting underlayer, and the finish never peels or fades.
